PHARMACEUTICAL SERVICES

The department as the name indicates is responsible for the coordination of all Pharmaceutical issues and policies.

Functions

  1. Advise the formulation, review and execution of policies and programmes on pharmacy
  2. Coordination of the various division within the department
  3. Liaising with relevant international narcotic bidy on the control of narcotic and psychotropic substances
  4. Collaborate with agencies related to health such as pharmacist council of Nigeria, national agency for food drug administration and control, NDLEA and standard organization of Nigeria
  5. Advising on all matter relating to food, drugs, cosmetic and medical devices
  6. To provide guide on the overall management of the drug revolving fund scheme in the state
  7. To provide technical guidance to operators of the drug revolving fund scheme to ensure quality if delivery of services
  8. To ensure drug revolving fund scheme are well integrated and coordinated with health and other related MDAs.
  9. To ensure community awareness of the DRF scheme in the state thereby increasing utilization of public facilities
  10. Strengthening of the procurement and supply chain management system of health commodities

Units under the Department

Inspection Division
Activities:  Registration of pharmacy shops and patent medicine stores  Routine inspection of the registered premises to find out whether they stock counterfeit, adulterated, banned or fake drug or any unwholesome processed food.

Logistic Management Coordination Unit
Activities:  Registration of pharmacy shops and patent medicine stores  Routine inspection of the registered premises to find out whether they stock counterfeit, adulterated, banned or fake drug or any unwholesome processed food.
